Relief Food Distribution Programme for WADAJIR IDPs in Mogadishu
IDP families in WADAJIR received thier food rations The U.N. has estimated that more than 3.6 million people in Somalia are currently in need of emergency humanitarian food assistance as the region is in the midst of the worst drought and conflict in 60 years.

A severe famine is striking many parts of Somalia and has caused malnutrition and deaths to people and livestock. More than 400,000 people have fled from the drought and famine in southern Somalia to the country’s capital in search of food and aid in the last few months. Many walked for weeks on foot without food or even water, losing their loved ones and children too weak or malnourished to survive the arduous journey. And those who survived reached the capital weak and malnourished; Thus, Somali Community Concern (SCC) in collaboration with some international NGOs responded to food aid distribution to the needy IDPs in Mogadishu. SCC has played an active role in getting involved and continuously providing food aid to Somalis in attempt to help alleviate the sufferings of the drought stricken populations. So far SCC reached out 3300 House Holds in IDP camps in Hodon ,Howlwadag, Waberi, Wadajir and Dharkenley districts. Food items distributed are included: 165 tons of rice, 165 tones of flour, 34 tons of soap, and 16,500 liters of cooking oil and in some place non food items, like plastic packets and soup were along- side distributed.
