Background Information
Somali Community Concern (SCC) is defined as a voluntary, non -governmental, non-political, non-partisan and nonprofit making organization operating in the field of Humanitarian Aid and developmental programs answering to the community’s basic needs relevant on Somali context. The organization aims to improve the quality of education, facilitate chances to educate IDP school age children, provide vocational skill training to youths, health care and hygiene promotion for the poor communities provision of Water source and rehabilitation and food aid distribution to vulnerabel Somali people.

Somali Community Concern (SCC) was established by a group of scholars in April9, 2003 in Mogadishu and reflecting its mandate, the organization carried out successful software and hardware projects that have been translated into reality. SCC has so far implemented 43 successful projects that revived the hopes of so many desperate women, children, IDPs and poor communities through provision of food assistance, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, education, training and capacity building. These projects have had positive impacts on the target communities.

SCC is registered as local NGO under the act at Somali Republic. It has its head office in the capital city of Mogadishu as well as sub-offices in Middle Shabelle, lower Shabelle and Galgadud regions. SCC believes building trust in partnership at coordination level as information sharing and implementation. The organization has undertaken several assignments in Somalia and therefore fully understands the target area culturally, socially, politically and economically. The organization works with UN-Agencies and international NGOs in the same mandate and objectives: in terms of emergency, recovery, rehabilitation and developmental programs.

SCC prioritizes in accountability and transparency in all activities to its stakeholders for moral and material support from the community gatekeepers, local authorities and activity beneficiaries. To reach out its objectives and goals, SCC is guided by rule of law, internal regulations, Code of Conduct and procedures in (governance, human resource, financial policy, management practice, service delivery, external relations and sustainability) produced by SCC board and management team.
